ATELIER BONOMI - BENINI

Our history

Atelier Bonomi comprises two divisions: CUSTOM and CATALOG.
The custom division comes from a historic company: GBT Bonomi, which
was founded in Tione in 1720 and has always produced high-quality brass handles
for years.

The catalog division comes from the Benini company, which was founded after
the Second World War and mainly deals with knobs,
handles, and doorknobs, always in brass, with a careful eye on
quality and customer service.

Both divisions produce and manufacture brass handles
in Sabbio Chiese, in the heart of the Brescia handle district,
a true hub of Made in Italy.
Most of the work is done in-house, from the mechanics to the polishing of the pieces.

One side, as in the case of Janus Bifrons, faces the future and
includes special finishes, home automation integration, and
special materials, such as technopolymers and carbon.

The production

A commitment to craftsmanship, industry, and modern design has always been the driving force behind Benini, the division of Atelier Bonomi dedicated to catalog production.
Rooted in a family tradition that traces its origins back to the centuries of experience of G. Bonomi & Figli, Benini embodies a legacy that combines manufacturing rigor and formal beauty. Each collection reflects our belief: the quality of the process must translate into impeccable aesthetics.

Guided by a vision that values resources and inspired by the possibilities of contemporary design, we maintain a firm balance between innovation and ethical production. Over time, we have refined our technologies and optimized our processes with a clear goal: to offer reliable, accessible, and consistently high-quality collections, designed to meet the needs of a clientele seeking style without sacrificing functionality. Each member of our team brings this approach, transforming it into tangible value in every product we create.

The meeting of past and present takes shape in the variety of manufacturing techniques used for the Benini collections, ranging from the most traditional to the most advanced. From shell casting to hot stamping, from die casting to CNC machining, each phase is designed to ensure efficiency, speed, and consistency with the quality standards that distinguish us.

The technology

Thinking ahead while respecting our roots has always guided Benini. The combination of a streamlined production philosophy, a focus on innovation, and a connection to the local area has shaped our approach, balancing aesthetics and efficiency.

Benini continues this legacy through a production process that guarantees quality and continuity across the catalog collections. The creation of each product begins with hot or cold forging and continues with high-precision blanking, minimizing waste. The use of advanced technologies and computerized machinery ensures consistent and reliable results.

Our processes—CNC, sand and shell molds, die casting, precision turning, and hot stamping—are supported by 3D design software that allows for precise control of the entire production cycle. Manufacturing tradition and innovation thus merge to create solid, high-performance collections that are consistent with Benini standards.

With this in mind, we continue to invest in new technologies, constantly improving our processes to offer increasingly efficient and contemporary products.

Finishes

Brass is at the heart of our experience and is the raw material on which Benini production is based. Its solidity, versatility, and durability have made it a key feature in every era and setting, and we continue to enhance it through processes that respect the material's nature and enhance its final aesthetic. Our finishes represent the final step in the production cycle and are a tangible testament to our commitment to offering reliable, consistent, and valuable collections.

While we follow evolving trends, our goal is to create finishes that remain relevant over time. Our technologies allow for a wide range of treatments, but the choice of finishes always stems from a methodical approach and the desire to ensure long-lasting results. Whether by hand or using dedicated machinery, we precisely perform grinding, sandblasting, polishing, painting, and patinating, maintaining the same enterprising spirit that has accompanied us for generations.

Benini finishes enrich every detail without overpowering it, highlighting its essence and potential. The value of this method is revealed over time: the daily use of our products demonstrates their solidity, elegance, and continuity. Inspired by nature and respectful of the environment, we continue to improve our processes with an eye to the future.
